The word doula comes from the Greek word for "a woman who serves".
A doula focuses 100% of her time and support on you, the laboring mother. Whereas nurses have other patients they are responsible for, a doula is only concerned with her individual client. *A doula does NOT speak for a couple, or provide any medical or clinical skills.
A doula is a continual
emotional and physical support person for the laboring mother.
I am like a stack of birthing books by your side that you don't need to page through. Just ask me!
| arrive at your home or hospital when you want me to. | stay by your side until after your baby is born |
| attend solely to your emotional and physical needs during birth | provide light massage, position suggestions and breathing techniques |
| assist you with positive energy through one of your most transformative life experiences! |
The doula seeks to assist the laboring mother and her partner in
preserving a memory of birth that is peaceful, and one that is remembered forever
with joy.
| birth is empowering. let it empower you. |
